Dr. Sharma is the Assistant Professor of Agribusiness at Kent State - Tuscarawas. He joined the program in the Fall of 2017 and has a joint teaching and research appointment. He completed his Ph.D in agricultural economics from University of Nebraska - Lincoln and taught at the Oklahoma Panhandle State University during the 2016-17 academic year. He has also worked for the Food and Agriculture Organization (United Nations) and the Nebraska Department of Agriculture. Dr. Sharma focuses on risk analysis, crop insurance and land use policy.

He has published articles in peer-reviewed journals and has been invited to present papers at the AAEA and ICAE conferences, the annual Land and Poverty conference held at the World Bank, and other applied economics conferences. He also been invited as a panelist at various institutions and been the recipient of research grants. He has taught courses in - Introduction to agricultural economics, Introduction to business, agricultural finance, agricultural commodity marketing, farm management, agricultural price analysis, agricultural trade, quantitative economics, money and banking, crop/forage production management.
